Amidst the elaborate dragons and colorful costumes typical of a Chinese New Year parade in Hong Kong, was a group of dancers from the San Gabriel Valley performing a ceremonial Aztec dance.

The two-dozen dancers are part of the Esperanza Flores Ballet Folklorico Dance Group. They come from throughout the San Gabriel Valley and all participate in one of Esperanza Flores' Latin American and Spanish dance classes offered at recreation centers in La Puente, Rowland Heights, Glendora, Covina and Diamond Bar.

They were invited to participate in the parade by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, which was impressed by the group's "fantastic" and "stirring" performance.
