Just found out (belatedly) that Harold Pinter won this
year's Nobel Prize for Literature - as
ortho_bob (from whom I heard the news) puts it, "About time that someone I've not only heard of but have read won". I'm particularly chuffed because he's done so much work on the small and big screens (yes, pop culture!), adapting other people's work as well as developing his own. Not to mention doing a spot of acting (you might remember him as the horrendous Sir Thomas Bertram in that enjoyable but totally unfaithful recent film of Mansfield Park). Good for him.
