Aaron... Albeit A Sex Hero - Cheesy, check. Cute cast, check. Completely over the top unbelievable plot, check.
Angora Ranch - Cute. Sure. The romance was weirdly paced, at least for me.
Home for the Holidays - Now serving dysfunctional family. The subplot involving Robert Downe Jr is cute and interesting to note given the time period. Great holiday dinner scene.
Julie & Julia - Eh. ::shrug:: Two different story lines abusively strung together.
Moon - I was actually really surprised with this movie. I kept guessing at the direction it would take next, how it might end. And who knew the robot could be such a major character.
District 9 - Thank you, no. Might be interested in the sequal.
Daybreakers - This was awful. Not the-smeared-fecal-matter-of-life awful, but awful none the less.
Zombieland - Surprisingly entertaining. Genuinely amusing, good pacing, good cast.
Alice in Wonderland - Can I have my money back?
Ponyo - OMG this was so cute.
Sherlock Holmes - Odd, as this is a new mold for Holmes, but ultimately entertainment. RDjr is a fantastic Holmes though... I guess one druggie knows how to play another.
Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone - Hot. Just... hot. A truly fantastic retelling of the original story line, and it does improve even though it's a 3rd of the time.
Clash of the Titans - Modern technology just doesn't make this movie as impressive as the original. There were some visually distinctive scenes that really raise the level of cinematography, but don't really pull together the storyline particularly well. There are enough gaps that you easily mark the passage of time, instead of being dragged into the flow of the story.
Kick-Ass - Faults from some poor pacing... but that doesn't hold it back too much. If nothing else, watch it for the 11 year old girl.
Dare - Based off a short of the same name... Only just not. Of course a 120 minute movie would have a expansively different plot than a 10 minute short. It's still ... the connection is clear, if tangental. Regardless, what I missed in the movie was the point. Certainly, there is a story told, but the focus on the three characters suggests a comparison of each's stories, which is just odd... and awkward.
Män som hatar kvinnor (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo) - Disturbing, violent, hard to watch... and yet an engrossing story line as good as any.
Elizabeth: The Golden Age - Actually lives up to the first Elizabeth. Look forward to the third.
Twilight - Not seeing what all the fuss about. Line.
Twilight Saga: New Moon - Ditto. Line.
Iron Man 2 - Fun.
How To Train Your Dragon - This was just giggles of fun. Good voice acting, great rendering. And seeing this in 3D, alone in a theatre! Yes... I loved it.
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time - Funny, hot man runs around the desert doing something. I think there was a plot. Did I mention he was hot. Actually, decent for an action movie.
Feast - This little bit of horror actually outlines each characters personality and estimated time to live in the first 10 minutes or so of the movie. That should tell you all you need to know. lol
Dragon Hunters - W. T. F. No wonder this never hit the theaters in the US... trippy, odd plot, distinct European sensibilities to storytelling and characters. And FUCKING evil bunnies floating all over the world?! Love the purple dog like thingy though. Extraordinary graphics rendering though!
Let The Right One In - MST3King this definitely broke any sense of tension the director may have been attempting to establish. Despite this, Let The Right One In still came across rather well. I have a bit of a problem positioning it though... from an American perspective, there are so many things wrong (what, does no one call the cops when an assault happens? Slow pacing.), but it plays out really well.
Homewrecker - Yeah, no.
RoboGeshia - Geshias who weren't good enough, they needed to be turned into cyborg-assassin-geshias! Action comedy with a surprisingly deep plot. What's not to like? Answer: everything.
Jumper - Nifty little action/adventure. Hayden does a remarkable job, more in tune with Life As A House than the Star Wars saga.
Twilight Saga: Eclipse - Seriously, line. And _an_ accent. Not two or three.
Toy Story 3 - I cried. I god damn fucking cried.
Inception - Brilliant.
House of Usher - Edgar Allen Poe as softcore gay porn. No no, I really didn't have to watch it to know how bad a fail this was going to be. But I did.
Salt - Solid, if underrated spy movie.
Punisher: Warzone - Crazy man and guns.
Scott Pilgrim vs The World - Yes. Fuck yes.
Eat Pray Love - I don't get it. It's an alright movie about finding yourself... but the weeping, the tears. It's the traveling pants all over again.
Vampires Suck - So much potential, SO off the mark.
Pandorum - A lot of standard horror elements jumbled together. Not entirely sure there was anything new to see, but it was entertaining.
Lucky Bastard - Oh god, I couldnt even finish it. It makes no sense. None. Not a bit.
Shut Up & Kiss Me - Made on a budget... ho hum otherwise.
The Last Airbender - Far too ambitious for 2 hours of screen time. Which was totally expected. Can't agree with the casting choices, and I have to wonder if the lack of chemistry is more about limited time to focus on it, or an actual lack.
Inglorious Bastards - Never knew there was a 't' in Nazi.
Pirate Radio - I just had a good time with this. It's fun and entertaining.
Dish - Eh. Can understand what's trying to be done, but I don't think it's captures it overly well.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 - Did actors just sign on to this movie to be in Harry Potter? Cause their characters died quiet suddenly.
Burlesque - I will never be able to look at a box of cookies the same way again. Otherwise, a decent enough movie with a serious flaw; our heroin never falls... stumbles, but not a fall. Keeps it upbeat, I guess. Lots of little fun bits though. Tucci's character for one. Alan Cumming's stage bit for another.
The Tourist - This movie is as awkward as Johnny Depps character; the interchange between spy film and romance is shuttering. Which is really sad as Depp and Jolie have good chemistry, the story leads you to guessing right down to the last moment, and ultimately there are shining gems of a really good movie all over the place. I high point was the music... well, by and large. Some great reflection to an age of classic spy tails.
Easy A - Light hearted teen movie. Enjoyable watching.
Pineapple Express - That was James Franco? Okay.... Anyhow.
Zombies of Mass Destruction - Politics and zombies just don't go together.
Do Começo ao Fim (From Beginning to End) - Dreamy romance with nuanced emotional tact. REALLY makes you want to forget that this a movie with a central incestuous relationship. And I god damned loved it.
TRON: Legacy - I really liked this movies, which is impressive given I wasn't really thrilled with the lead! Ambiguous religious metaphors are aplenty, but Flynn as god, oh hell yes. (Also makes for an all too disturbing find conversation at the end, if you think about it.) The graphics were rich and visceral, casting an eye toward Blade Runner. Yes, the plot is a little loose, god is a hardcore hippy and physics just don't add up, but it's fun.
Bear City - Cute, fun, definitely a 'gay' movie.
Resident Evil: Afterlife - Why?!
