What's one more year?

Well, I thought my next pb TUTUS AREN'T MY STYLE was coming out in '09 but Anne Wilsdorf, the illustrator, needs more time with the sketches. Which pushed the pub date to Spring 2010. Making it a 4-year project. That isn't really that unusual but a little disheartening when I was getting used to saying it will be out NEXT year. Sigh. I do think her illustrations will be terrific and fit the character perfectly. It's just the darn waiting that gets so hard!

I realized that I write best in spurts -- if I write a chapter one day my brain seems to need to rest the next day or so and then I can write another chapter in another long frenzy. I wish I could write a little bit every day -- that just seems to be a better way to go -- but it doesn't work for me. I'm still on schedule for finishing my mg novel this month. I'm so looking forward to that -- and that's what keeps me going! We've opened up our cabin and I'll be spending a few days there soon to write. No Internet to distract me. No laundry to lure me away from my desk. No cats to play with. And last year the TV went on the fritz and we haven't replaced it yet so that won't be a problem either! Ah, peace and quiet, here I come!
