NZ got hit by a weatherbomb over the weekend.

Auckland copped the outer edge of it and it made the normal deadly dull Saturday shift slightly more interesting as we exchanged glances when the windows (we're on the 13th floor) started flexing. We have a radio scanner with us which was handy as it gave us a good 15-20 min warning when a telephone pole and/or wires had been brought down amid the power poles, trees, roofs and windows blowing out of hotels.

The drive home was interesting too. Cruising along on the motorway when all of a sudden all the cars around you flinch when a gust hits. Not a little bit scary that.
