Ringing in the New Year
Greetings from 2012!
Was on shift last night. As midnight was struck we were on our way to an unconscious patient at the warf. As the fireworks exploded overhead, two cops were helping me lift a 16 yr old out of his puddle of vomit and onto a stretcher. I've had maybe six hours cumulative of sleep, most of which was after I got off shift right up to when a kid started screeching next door. Every single case the two crews had last night was booze related, from people getting absolutely blotto to one where we picked up a pair of sisters- one had a concussion from when some random guy KO'd her, the other had a broken hand from chasing said guy down and punching him back- to some dumkof who smashed a bottle on the ground for someone else to walk on and slice his foot open on.
This is one of the reasons why I don't like alcohol. Having some is okay, but boozing to the point of many people we saw last night? Really, really stupid. Please guys, don't do it.
