It must be said, I had to look it up. I had a fair idea that it was in Thud! but I couldn't remember where, so I just spent a while looking through it so I could be sure I wasn't talking utter nonsense. Anyway, in Thud! Sam is talking to the rank and file of the watch and telling them that they're better off defending their families by staying in the watch and in the speech he says 'in return there'll be jam tomorrow'.

I *must* stop trying to be funny, when I know I just end up being obscure.
