A better kind of update, of a less 'OMG-work-angst-locked' nature.
I am happier this week :)
* Orangery report is finished. It has stats and boxplot. More importantly, I'm fairly sure I understood the stats I did (well, not to equation-level, but roughly how they worked and what they were looking at). 1 page over the suggested length... okay, 2 if you include the references, but to be fair, he did only say '3-ish'.
* Facilitating the above, I have Minitab again. Yes, I know it was made of Doom, but dammit, it's familiar doom. It's changed to Minitab 15 since I last got a free demo, so I could get the 30-day trial again, hurrah!
* …and then I bought it. There's a deal (rather like the
Ultimate Steal with Office) where you can get a full copy of Minitab 15 for $99, so, about £50, if you have a valid .ac.uk email address. I'd spend that on a textbook, and it's be dead useful to have a stats program I can work, especially when we start using R (so I can at least know what I'm supposed to get each time!). Like Office, I got the CD option, which does cost postage, but when my computer dies/gremlins eat it, I can re-install easier.
* We got the Critical Reviews we did last term back. 70% (assuming the plain '70' scribbled on the end was a percent). ~glee~
* I went for a bike ride! I am Not Fit. In my defence, Cambridge is flat. A half-hour cycle there will get you ~6miles, and probably not that tired. I haven't been this red for quite a long time. It's one of the annoying things about cycling here - I really hate the tight-chest, 'I think I am swallowing my lungs' feeling of unaccustomed cardio.
I think I will have to make a resolution with myself to do a big loop around the area, or cycle around Windsor Great Park, a few times a week. It's only half an hour…
