I'm sitting in History supposed to be watching a film on Stalin when a phone rings. The mysterious ring seems to be coming from Jose, who sits diagonally across from me. Shortly after the ring, he turns to me and asks, "Oh, is that me?"

It felt really good to laugh that hard.

Today, however, I cried.

After math class on Friday I turned in my homework for section eight. He collected the homework Thursday from most of the class but said it would be acceptable to turn the homework in on Friday. I didn't understand how to do the homework and decided it would take too much time to teach myself the concepts and apply them to the large amount of homework assigned so I copied the answers from the back of the book. When I turned the homework in, Mr. Jervey asked me if I understood how to do the work and I responded "no." Today, my mom told me that she needed to talk to me about something serious and asked my sister to leave the room. Mr. Jervey sent my mom an e-mail informing her that I had turned my homework in a day late and copied all of the answers from the back of the book. He explained that he was worried I would be unable to pass the May exam and questioned all of my other work completed previous to this homework assignment.

He ended the e-mail with, "Band wins again."
