I have some cream silk and I have some red velvet with which I want to make a quick-and-easy corset for a dinner on Thursday (and matching gloves!).
Anyway, I want to make a simple overbust with the cream silk and use the red velvet to make a ruched top, rather like this
Vollers corset. The thing is, I'm not quite sure about the best way of going about this.
Normally I finish my corset with bias binding, and occasionally add some lace underneath that when stitching for some extra ornamentation. However, with the ruched part, I don't want biased binding over the top of it so what would be the best way of attaching it and at the same time finishing the top of the corset underneath? Making the corset normally and then attaching the ruched top by hand when the corset is done, or is there another method I'm not aware of?
Thanks in advance, I'll post pictures when it's done!
