This was actually an interesting update. Without blatantly saying it, you told me a lot of things.
Adam is a survivor, first and foremost. It will take him a long time even when he eventually gets back to Kris to understand that he can live a life w/o feeling he needs to always protect himself. Right now he is in a situation that is unbearable, but as much as he would like to get back to Kris, he needs to make the best of a horrible situation. Getting close to the Pharaoh is the best protection Adam can get. He's lucky that the Pharaoh happens to be an attractive person, who is genuinely a nice man that actually cares about Adam. If Adam never gets out of that "prison" he at least would be able to cope. I think Kris would understand this and would want Adam to find a way to make sure Adam is not abused but as cared for as possible if he can't leave.
It's easy to feel bad for Kris since Adam isn't minding having a close relationship with the Pharaoh, but as much as Adam seems to be enjoying himself, he has held himself back. Yes, he and the Pharaoh know each other, but the Pharaoh does not know Adam like Kris does. Adam made sure of that. Adam finding happiness in this prison only goes so far.
I also think that in the end, when the Pharaoh's sister finds out about this, and I truly believe she will, the Pharaoh will do whatever is necessary for Adam's protection and ultimate survival. The truth will come out eventually, and I do think that the Pharaoh will believe Adam over his sister and will fully understand the grudge she has against Adam, since he fell under Adam's spell as well. Adam will get out of there, and will have a friend in a high place.
Kris will understand, and will be happy that Adam found some solace while there. Kris would not want him to suffer. I think readers will find it hard to see this, since Adam looks so much like he is enjoying his stay, but if Adam had the choice, he would choose Kris. For this I have no doubt. This is only a means to an end.

I can see what you're saying, but think of it this way. When Adam was home and clients came, he separated that from his "real life". Even back then, Adam enjoyed some of his good looking clients, since it made doing his job that much easier.
When there were no clients and it was just him and Kris, it was more personal. When Adam & Kris eventually have sex, and remember they haven't had it yet, Adam will see the difference between having sex with a demi-god and having it with the one you love.
Think of Adam treating his stay similar to what he was doing before, except he doesn't call the shots. Hooking up with the top client at the castle, is the best thing that could happen to Adam. I think that he thinks of Kris, but I doubt he wants to think about Kris while having sex with someone else, or performing his job, so to speak. Adam has separated this from his real life and honestly, he has to if he is going to survive there.
This writer is really good IMO. She sees this from all the angles.

And for sapphiresilt, recall in the last chapter, after Adam was brutalized by the guards, he dragged up memories of Kris that he'd hidden way down within him. He wanted to keep them 'protected' from the vile life at the palace. That's a good way of showing what's being said/done here.
