Pretty much my whole life, I've been dealing with this annoying, severe itchiness that happens sometimes after I shower or swim. I always thought it was just from sensitive, dry skin. It is seriously the worst thing ever, because the itching can get unbearably bad sometimes to the point that I just want to run around screaming, and I always second guess myself before I go swimming because I don't want to risk the itchiness breaking out.
I just discovered it is an actual skin disease called Aquagenic Pruritis. I also discovered it lasts for years and is very hard to get rid of. >.> Apparently I could go to the hospital and have some kind of repeated treatment done called Ultravoilet-B Phototherapy, which is like tanning but doesn't cause skin cancer. Or, I could douse myself in baby oil before I shower, which is supposed to alleviate the itching. I would try anything at this point.
I'm just glad to find out I'm not the only person in the world who has this weird thing. And that it's an actualfax condition and I'm not just going crazy.
