some thoughts Im having from "Mere Christianity"
"Everyone there (i.e. everyone who knows Christ) is filled full with what we should call goodness, as a mirror is filled with light. But they do not call it goodness. They do not call it anything. They are not thinking about it. They are too busy looking at the source from which it comes."

We cannot focus on ourselves if we wish to be a reflection of Christ. Just as a mirror reflects light because it is facing light, so must we be facing Christ continuously for our lives to reflect his qualities, and his "goodness".
To put it another way:
Instead of focusing your entire life around what YOU do, the nice things YOU will say and the good YOU have done, and will do; focus your life on what CHRIST DID. What things HE already SAID. Focus on HIS grace, and HIS majesty and HIS goodness. You were made to be a mirror, and if you face him, you will reflect him.
Worship God, not yourself. Follow CHRIST, not religion. HE is good, and the greatest thing you can do is agknowledge him.
