I have now lived in the US for a little over 4 months now, and I've made a lot of purchases the last few months, furnishing my apartment and experiencing new things. I wanted to share some of my favourites so far. Maybe you'll want to get it and try it too. =)
My very most favourite thing that I love more than anything else is a mug that I got at the Disney Store. What's so special about this mug? How could it possibly be my most favourite thing I got so far? Well, it's because it makes me smile every time I use it. I actually got two mugs at the Disney store. One is of the Incredibles and the other is a collage of images from the old Disney movie "Steamboat Mickey". As much as I love the Incredibles one, it's the "Steamboat Mickey" one that makes me smile. And all because of what's written in the inside of the cup.
Hehehe. Isn't it cool? =)
My next favourite thing is a new painting activity that I discovered. It's called
Palettes and Pairings. Basically, you go and follow their instructions to imitate a painting that they have already made. It could be based on a famous painting or it might be something that the owners (who are also artists) had created themselves. And while you paint, you drink some wine and eat some snacks. It's pretty fun. Since I have no real interest in taking art lessons (I learned that back in elementary school) and I wanted to try painting, this is my best option. I've gone 7 times and I'm planning on going many more times. It's so cool to be able to make my own art to display in my new home. =)
Next, I bought a new laptop tray so that I could work in bed. It's actually a breakfast tray, so I can eat in bed too. =) During the last couple of months (and in the coming months), I had gone through some oral surgery that required that I stay in bed for a few days. I realized that I needed a laptop tray so that I could follow doctor's instructions and get work done. I've already used it quite a few times. It's been totally worth it.
Last but not least, I found a new fitness class to attend. I searched for fitness studios that were the closest to home and this place showed up. It's called
PureBarre. It's like a ballet/dance class but more fitness-like. I thought I'd give it a try and it's been really awesome. I like it not because it makes me lose weight. (I'm not sure I actually have lost weight as a result of it. I don't go often enough.) But because I finally found a fitness class that actually causes me to sweat. It's pretty rare for me to sweat when I work out. It's a really tough class but it's fun, so it's worth it.
It's been a crazy busy few months and I know it'll continue to be busy, especially with work deadlines quickly approaching. This work/life balance thing is tough.... Lots of purchases made and I'm sure that I will make many more when I find a more permanent place to live. Maybe I'll have another set of new favourite things then. =)
