2 trips around the world and it's finally in my hands

For Christmas 2011, I got an IOU for an e-reader since the Kindle Touch that I wanted wasn't available in Canada yet. When it became available in March 2012, I decided to wait and see what Amazon comes out with this year before getting it. When they announced the Kindle Paperwhite, I was super excited and wanted to get one right away. I thought I would own one in October since it was getting released in October and I happened to be in the States at that time. Unfortunately, it was sold out before I could even order it. =(

A few weeks later, my uncle told me that it's available in BestBuy and he could get it to me when he visited in November. I counted down the days until his visit and the day before he was supposed to arrive, he told me of his change of plans. He wasn't visiting anymore and I had to find another way of getting it from him. =( Fortunately, my two uncles happen to be in Hong Kong the same time in December and so the Kindle was to be handed off from one uncle to the other in order to arrive in Canada and in my hands.

So, to recap, the Kindle was manufactured in China, travelled all the way to US to be bought at Best Buy, then travelled back to China, then to Hong Kong, before it finally made its way to Canada. What a complicated and long way to travel just so that I can get my Christmas present from last year.

Regardless, it is now in my possession and it's absolutely beautiful. I also ordered the leather case in Fuschia (How do you spell fuschia? F-U-I don't know!) so it now matches my netbook. Like the iPad cover, it turns off the Kindle when I close the cover. I think it's super awesome. I'm so excited to start using it. Gotta finish reading the physical books I borrowed from the library first.... Also, I'm not a huge fan of the way it displays PDFs. It looks fine but I like the Amazon format better. Looks nicer.

Anyhow, here are some pictures, in all its pink goodness. =)
