The Great Mia Hamm

Dec 09, 2004 01:09

the day has finally come.

The soccer legend... has come to an end.

Mia Hamm's 17 year history with the US Womens National team, is over.

She was 15 when she joined the US National team in 1987. The scouts had already been looking at her for a year prior to that as well. She is the youngest athlete, male and female, to play in a national game. Over the past 17 years, she set a goal scoaring record at 158 goals, with 144 assists. Mia Hamm... is the legend of soccer.

what do you think of when someone mentions womens soccer?? Mia Hamm. everyone knows her name. She's become every girl soccer players idol. everyone wants to be the next Mia Hamm.

it's so hard to believe that it's over now. I just finished watching her last game ever. It was watching my hero, my idol. Watching everything i love about soccer, and the person i dream to be, play her last game. very emotional. She was crying when she came off the field.

yes... i'm a soccer freak. and the us womens national team will never be the same.

There will never be the "Next Mia Hamm" that everyone talks about. There has been, and always will be, one Mia Hamm.
