Thanksgiving went well. Definitely a big fan of the mid-day Thanksgiving dinner. With much of the food done earlier in the week, had a leisurely breakfast, cooked the turkey mid-morning, did last-minute vegetables at the same time, and then put stuff on to reheat while the turkey rested. There was a bit of rushing around to get everything pulled together, but wasn't bad. After the meal, there's plenty of time for cleanup and readying the soup, with dessert pushed off to mid-afternoon, after everyone's had some time to deflate. Plenty of time to converse with extended family throughout.
I'd ordered the turkey spatchcocked (butterflied so it can be flattened out in the pan), but when I unwrapped it found I had not gotten that. Did a reasonable job of that myself, though. Definitely makes for a quicker, more even roast, and I like the presentation, too.
I took Wednesday off at the last minute, and I'm very glad I did because I spent most of it peeling and chopping and mashing to prep sweet potato casserole and mashed potatoes and turnips. Would not have had enough time on Thursday without that. As is, I'm pretty pleased with how things went. Turned out delicious, and I feel like I managed the planning and scaled my own effort just right.
The rest of the long weekend is much of the same, minus the cooking. Which is relaxing indeed. Four meals of Thanksgiving leftovers so far, including the pie-and-coffee breakfast this morning. Wonder how many it will be all told.
I played some more of
Hades, including my first successful runs. That game is phenomenal, Supergiant at their best, fast and clever and fun, the art and voice-acting and music is great.
