Sandy Island Can't

Jun 03, 2020 07:54

It's that time of year when I start waking up early, whether or not I want to. So maybe this is a good time to get in a little more writing.

I went to the Union Square Farmers Market this weekend and it was nice, but a little unreal. I've never seen such attention paid to controlling infection risk outside of a medical setting, and many of the usual things were absent. Still, it was nice to see some familiar faces (Debbie, the owner of Play Union, was there, and many of the usual merchants), and I got a few things for an instant pot beef stew that turned out pretty well.

Work has been very busy, but I am making forward progress with some things.

Sandy Island Camp is cancelled this summer. It seems that 2020 is the first time a camp hasn't been in operation for a summer season on that island since 1899. Not sure if I will be doing anything for a family vacation this summer. If it happens, it will probably be something very low-key.

Someone put up this Is 2020 Over? site, and it's kind of amazing how I'd almost forgotten that all the crazy stuff that happened in January was also this year.

The news is stressful.

Some things are getting better, at least. The last patients have been discharged from the COVID-19 field hospital in Boston. The peak of the first wave is over. Hopefully people will be responsible about mitigation and it can stay over.

One week at a time. This entry was originally posted on Dreamwith.
