Title: So busy, I forget to write about it
Main entry text
So there have been a lot of good things going on with me lately, although they've precluded a great deal of my free time.
I've been doing well in school, thankfully; so well, in fact, that I was accepted to the Ronald E. McNair Scholars program at UNM, a great privilege and honor. Thanks to this, I will be spending the Spring semester doing background research in order to come up with a good research project, which I will then execute (or at least begin) in the Summer, with paid stipends attached to project milestones. This is all pretty exciting for me, but it's very hard work to find the time to do it all.
In addition to the McNair research, I'm still working with Prof. Jed Crandall and the ConceptDoppler team (conceptdoppler.org) on their studies of Internet censorship in China. It's been slow going, with strange implementation and data collection issues, but I'm confident that I can get things back on track soon.
I got a new laptop! :) It's a 13" MacBook Pro, because I love the hardware and the software is just icing, since I've always liked OS X. This is the first time I've ever bought myself a laptop, and with the features of this one I've been enjoying, I'm quite ecstatic.
My health is still suffering a lot, since my knees never fully recovered from my surgery two years ago and my back is following suit, but I'm doing my best to do more Yoga and exercise to bring it back into a livable state. Wii Fit Plus is a big help, when I _make_ the time to do it.
I guess it wasn't all that much after all, for me to be able to put it all in so few words. Just study, study, study....
although I do get to watch Star Trek or play Nethack occasionally. I'm trying to be online more (I finally have the tools to do so!), so feel free to try to contact me if you're interested in catching up or what-have-you.
... That said, it's back to work for me!
