Astoria Oregon, Wednesday Night

All in all, it had been a good night. Dr. Covington was a fount of information, not just about the dig up north, but all sorts of fascinating subjects. And, okay, he had to admit, she was beautiful as well.

But Billy didn't have much time to dwell on such pleasant thoughts, as soon after he entered the house, the air was split by a terrifying

Ana was like any kid. She had her share of bad dreams. Usually when she had a particularly bad one she would creep into her daddy's room (or Mommy's if they were visiting), clutching her stuffed otter doll, and crawl into bed with said parent. Sometimes she would find them awake enough to ask first.

Never before had one scared her so badly that she shot up in bed, screaming.

The door to her room burst open and her father erupted in, ready to take on anyone or anything that would dare threaten his daughter.

"Daddy!" She flew out of bed and threw her arms around him. "Daddy!"

"Hey, hey you." he said, stroking her hair and doing his best to calm her. Even as he did, he looked around to make sure the room was clear. "Hey, shhh, baby it's alright. What happened?"

Ana sniffed, and did her best to remember the ninja calming techniques Master Storm Shadow had been teaching her. "I, I had a bad dream. I, I think. I don't remember."

Her grandparents and aunt were in the room now too, Jenny carrying Tommy in her arms. He was wide eyed and worried about his sister, but okay.

Billy picked Ana up and hugged her tight. "You're okay kid." he promised her. "Must have been a doozy of a nightmare, but you're awake now. You're safe."

Billy's mother seemed to be the only one as worried as Billy. Of the family, they had the best ideas of just what sort of trouble could conceivably come calling. "I think we all need some hot chocolate." she said.
