G.I. Joe Headquarters, Saturday Evening

"Jesus Christ." Billy swore, pacing. "Jesus fucking Christ!"

"Billy calm down-" Duke started.

"Don't tell me to calm down!" He should of course. He knew that. But when it came to his father... "You told me you had him in the most secure- the most top secret- how did they even find him? How did they get in? You tell me Cobra sympathizers managed to break into a triple-max prison in the bottom of the goddam ocean to get my father... You told me you had him!"

"And we still do!" Duke insisted. Billy had interrupted the courtesy briefing. Technically Billy didn't have the clearance for his information, but Duke figured that if it had to do with Cobra Commander, the man's estranged son got to skip all that.

"What?"

"Your father's behavior has been getting increasingly erratic." Psych-Out told him. He was one of those Joes in the meeting. "Now, naturally we all assumed it was an act. I say with no shred of modesty that I'm one of the best analysts on the planet, but I fully admit it's possible he could fool me. But it looked to me like he was really losing it."

"But?"

"But these people managed to get in to get him. And they left him there. When we caught up to them, they told us he wasn't Cobra Commander anymore."

Billy managed to pull himself together, at least a little.

"So what are you saying?"

Psych-Out, once Billy's own therapist in college, sat down beside him. "You and Hawk permenantly crippled him when his two greatest schemes crashed down around him. He's completely isolated, his organization gone, even more so than before. And he's always been unstable. I think it's possible that he really has gone so completely insane as to lose touch with reality entirely."

Billy remembered what the future versions of Anastasia and Tommy had told him. That his father had gone all together senile, and the medication they gave him for that had even made him sane for a bit. But he just couldn't bring himself to trust it.

"I don't believe it." he said finally. "He's smart. He always has an angle. I don't think there's any evidence that could ever convince me."

"I'll see what I can do anyway." Psych-Out said.
