Billy's boots splashed through the mud and ever deepening puddles as he ran along. A log blocked the path, but he leaped it easily, ducking a few branches, hanging low from the weight of the rain.
Now this was fun. Yes he was insane. Maybe it was all those crazy military types he'd been raised around. Hell even the bad guys had had some crazy survivalist tendencies. So running through a rainy, muddy forest in the cold? Fun. And good for the thinking.
Why couldn't more Fandom events be fun? Like when he got bit by the Gremlin and thought he was
Andy Kaufman? That had been a
blast! Which reminded him he really wanted to see that sitcom he'd been on. And if he ever wound up running into Zartan again, he'd have to thank him for obsessing over Kaufman. That's how Billy knew so much about the
guy.
Billy flipped over a newly formed stream, and slid a bit upon landing, but kept his feet and kept going.
But noooooo. Fandom things had to be things like,
Creepy Shadows turning people intangible. Or
students getting
possesed, and
attacking other students, and having to be killed by their friends. Billy still was a little miffed that his
investigation had been a waste of time. Or
Alien Abduction. That had definately been a
low point in his time here.
Billy emerged from the pathway into a large clearing which appeared to contain several large cabins. The center of the clearing held a large flagpole. He listened for suspenseful music as he walked up the steps to the covered porch of one of the cabins, and turned to look out at the rain.
High points of being here of course were
mostly Ami these days.
The
other friends he'd
made didn't
hurt either. Though his
mentor worried him.
Billy crouched, and then stretched. He was starting to get cold, and his head was beginning to hurt. He needed hot chocolate and a shower. Which reminded him of the shower cap he had to wear while the holes in his head were still healing. Lovely. He was glad he'd decided to go running rather than hit the gym. Last time he'd done that to work out aggression he'd gone
too far. He was glad he'd opted out of
Fairy Tales yesterday. He hated to do that, but he'd sort of been afraid of going off in front of everyone. Plus, trauma and holes in his head.
He headed back to the dorms, glad of the trip.
