Idea alert: MTG

Before I get into that, I want to say please pray for me, as I have sent off an application to Smyth County Virginia to apply for 2 job openings down there (Marion High School and Chilhowee High School). I will continue to pray for everyone else and anything they need :)

Now to MTG. The deck I have been playing at Friday Night Magic was a Blue/White creation of mine, based solely around counterspells (me playing counterspells..never.), Wrath of God, and finishing with either Sacred Mesa (back after Serra Avenger, who is a great, great card, fell mightly too many times to Sudden Death), Draining Whelk (what Akroma? my 9/9!), and, of course the high priestess of pain herself, Akroma. I've made a few top 8's and a top 4 with it (considering I have to play with all the dudes around here to go and play in Pro Tour tournaments I feel pretty good about that), but I think I have found something that might put the deck over the top.

This dude, with Sacred Mesa (go to gatherer.wizards.com and look it up if you need to), plus the surrounding deck I already have might be enough to put it over the top. Here is the deck now:

Creatures - 6
----------------
3x Draining Whelk
2x Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir
1x Akroma, Angel of Wrath

Spells - 28
----------------
4x Cancel
4x Rune Snag
4x Remand
2x Dismal Failure
2x Spell Snare
4x Telling Time
3x Think Twice
2x Wrath of God
3x Repeal

Enchantments - 2
----------------
2x Sacred Mesa

Land - 24
----------------
4x Adarkar Wastes
4x Hallowed Fountain
6x Island
6x Plains
2x Azorius Chancery
1x Urza's Factory
1x Prahv, Spires of Order

Sideboard - 15
----------------
2x Confiscate
3x Trickbind
4x Temporal Isolation
2x Spell Snare
2x Wrath of God
1x Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir
1x Ivory Mask

Simply replacing Teferi (who WILL be in the sideboard because so many other people play him, and plus he does kind of make my spells uncounterable) with Crovax the hero will give me this: 1W: Put a 2/2 Griffin Token into play. Sacrifice a token at the beginning of your upkeep or sacrifice Sacred Mesa. If I go tomorrow, which is a doubt because of Waynestock in Elizabethton (go and Praise HIS name! Not Wayne's btw lol.) I will trade and get some Crovax's and try this out.

If you hate magic, then I can't blame you lol. It can get frustrating, but people have to remember that it is a game. I got mad playing Darryl once, and that was the last time. I felt like such an idiot for getting mad over a CARD GAME. It's a fun hobby, and it has let me meet some cool people to hang out with. But people getting mad and then making excuses why they lost is just natures way of saying: I can't handle playing this game, because I still wet my huggies at night. Harsh statement, I know. But, seeing a 29 year old who used to play on the Pro Tour get mad and make excuses at you when you beat him in a tournament will make you question why people play it in the first place. It's supposed to be stress relief and be fun. When you get frustrated, you need to take a step back. If you get stressed at work...you know it's work and take a step back and see how to fix the problem. If it's doing something fun (which some people get to do with their real job), then you should take it in stride. I've had to work on this for 10 years. I had a hell of a temper in high school, and thank goodness the Lord saw it fit that I grow up some and lose it :)

Anyway...not really a rant...just some observations. And for those that lose gracefully (I'm used to it, I lose alot lol), that shows how mature and grown up you are, and how much you enjoy your hobby if it has any bit of competition (Madden, Major League 2k7, Street Figher, Wii Sports, and any other 2 player game falls into this category along with any other game ever made ).
