HEY DADDY

Hey Daddy, your little girl looks just like you
same eyes; same mouth
She wants to know why her daddy doesn't live with her
She wonders why he doesn't come to see her
She wishes her daddy loved her
She wants to know what she has done wrong
Do you have the heart to tell your little girl
that she is an unwanted burden?
Can you tell her about the check you tried to give
when you found out about her conception?
Can you even look her in the eyes
the eyes that once held so much love for you
now all you can see is pain
a pain that you alone put there
does that make you feel good to see your child
broken, like a abused dog
your little girl isn't a little girl anymore
she has grown into a young woman
but her pain will never go away
deep inside she will always be that scared little girl
and she will never be whole
you have stolen a part of her that can never be replaced

A LITTLE GIRL, SCARED

a little girl, scared
the hospital is so big
the halls never ending
everything so cold

why can't Mommy come home?
Why is she sick? When is she coming home?
Does she not love us anymore?
the questions of a small girl
questions a scared father trys to answer
trying to explain things not fully understood

a little girl, afraid
at the end of a hospital bed
her mother lays in it helpless
so many machines, so many tubes

a little girl
don't worry little sister, mommy still loves us
she is coming home to us
I'll hold your hand little sister
don't be scared

just a little girl
mommy don't die
i love you. i promise i'll be a good girl
i'll be such a good girl
just come home, i love you

A LOVER LOST

a lover lost, like the winter snow
a love pure when it fell apon us
but dirtied with time
till it slowly melted away
this snow is never to return
to this couple now fallen
apart like the autumn leaves
but a spring may come for each apart
for each with another
the pureness of their love will never be matched
for a first love is always the purest
but in the heart of each lover
a small bit of their snow
will forever be as pure
as the first time they felt it around them
