JPN class is quiz central. Kanji quiz today, vocab tomorrow, more kanji next week and a test week after. I wish I had specific assignments that forced use of the new kanji as I find myself forgetting most of it after the quizzes are done. I was lucky today as the communism class was cancelled...erm, I'm sorry, the "US History" through the eyes of an anarchist class was cancelled and I was granted 2 hours in the language lab to prepare. On another note, decided to buy an Arcana Heart 2 stick, so I'll probably end up selling the PS3 one for about 80-100 bucks. Should be good after that.
You know, for a really long time I used to think politics is a waste of time and I should not bother reading up on it. However, the last election made me realize that it DOES concern me as it DOES affect me and how my future will be shaped. I don't want to be in debt, I don't want to be paying additional taxes for the failures of Pelosi, Reid, and Obama. But it goes much deeper than that. We as a culture are learning to acknowledge the views of the extremist nutcases and consider them acceptable. What is happening to this nation? Why is it so bad to say "No, this is unacceptable." There was a story in the news the other day about a proposition in Connecticut. I may be oversimplifying it a bit, but it basically sought to have the state government take over the financial affairs of the catholic church. Oddly enough, this was only viewed as an outrage on Fox (yes I know, lol Fox). This had me screaming at the TV.
Now those that know me also know my views on religion. However, I view this as a blatant attack on the constitution. Separation of church and state is there for a reason, and there is absolutely no no no no NO NO reason for the government to meddle in it. If this ever passes, it will be bumped to the supreme court, which will kill it in about 2 seconds flat. Here's what's happening here. The nutty left is butthurt over prop 8 and similar initiatives and are launching a counterattack on the institutions that support it. If the government gets to control the church funding, then they get to pick and choose favorites and essentially silence those who oppose them. This is a blatant attack on free speech, and this is a blatant attack on our liberties. It is unacceptable and cannot happen. However, how do you battle the double standard? If you support the far left ideas, then you have a right to free speech. However, if you oppose them, you're a hate-mongering bigot and racist. Well you know what, if being opposed to gay marriage makes me all those things, then so be it. The government should have zero say in what marriage is. For all intents and purposes, people should enter civil unions. If a couple wants to be declared "married", then they go to the church. If the church wants to define it between man and a woman, or man and a chimp, or anything, that's their prerogative. Grant all civil unions the same privileges and be done with it.
The other feeling that has been bundling up in me lately is anger. I feel that the system is failing, that it is failing me, and everyone in the country. What happened to common sense? What happened to sticking to your word? The president signed 9000 earmark budget even though he explicitly stated that he won't allow them. Obama should for once in his life stick to his guns and tell congress to piss off. "Yes I know the bill is not perfect but..." SHUT THE FUCK UP AND FIX IT! Go line by line and whenever you see one of those you strike it out. It doesn't take THAT much, I'm sure he can have a couple of lackeys do it. Necessary my ass. And it's not republicans or democrats, they're ALL slimebags, ALL guilty. Common sense, whatever happened to it? How can this nation survive without it?
The truth is, all of the politicians are caught in the neverending cycle of votes and money. Exchange favors for campaign contributions, which leads to more favors. Every time I dig through the news (and believe me, it is hard to find good info because the media is cahoots with the far left), I find something that just infuriates me. Today it was about a cop getting shot in the face by an illegal mexican drug smuggler that has been extradited in the past and had a mile-long sheet of offenses. Now, the mayor of the town knew about it and did nothing because he "did not want to alienate the latin community." This had me screaming at the TV. FUCKING SHIT! Since when is his political ass more important than the law? Laws are there for a fucking reason dipshit, and I don't care if you have to alienate the entire fucking mexican nation. If there is a drug smuggler that you know of, then you order him booted out or thrown in jail. Enough with the political correctness bullshit. Have some fucking common sense. This government offical deserves to be thrown in jail for all eternity. Common sense. Like what the D.C. voucher program was for the schools, where parents chose the school their kid attended to, and it ended up costing the government 40% less. Now everyone is stuck going to the public system which is about as bad as here. And if anyone says the teacher union wasn't the cause of it....yeah.
I feel suffocated by this system where one hand washes the other while they take away my money, my future, and my freedoms. It is the government that is killing me, and I just cannot see an escape. Doesn't matter, no one reads my rants anyways.
