Happy Mothers Day! to any of you who are, unlikely as it seems given the main demographic of LJers, mothers.
Interestingly, I discovered today that 'Mothering Day' is a very old historical concept: girls who used to work in factories had a day off every may to go and see their mother's in their home town. 'Mothers day' as it now is, though, is a much more modern American invention.
Anyway, my Mum. Perfect example of how wonderful she is tonight. I invited the A-stoners back here after church, as we were all milling around in the carpark going 'I dunno, whadda you wanna do?' Mum was a bit iffy with it when she got home from BCC, but managed fine. And then said that she was actually quite fine really, she was just more surprised and afraid they'd stay forever, but they didn't.
And she said they're quite welcome to come back. I'm sure it's hard - we have a lovely house and she tries to keep it orderly and clean, and I don't help with that much at all, and bringing home 20 teenagers is sure to be a risk. But she smiles on, and actually enjoys their company at the end of the day.
- Just one reason of many that I love my Mum, and think that she's an extraordinary woman.
