Gaming College Commercials
Time to rant... I've been watching G4 while working on some laundry and every other commercial is for a gaming college. While the concept that people are finally paying attention to game development as an actual carrer path is great, these commercials aren't. These commercials rarely (I've only seen one) use any kind of actual game footage. Most of the time they show of videos of pre-rendered footage. To make things worse, the footage they show has some of the worst animation that I have ever seen. That alone tells me that these schools are for the tech-heads. Sure, they can probably write code for any system or gaming engine, but they couldn't draw their way out of a box. These schools are teaching all they can about the technology involved in creating games, but apparently teaching anything about good art, design or animation is beyond their capacity. Here, let me put it this way, these commercials are embarrassing to anyone working towards a real job in gaming. What we have is another example of a school throwing together a bunch of courses, printing out a bunch of degrees for graduates who leave thinking they have what it takes to make it when they really don't. It's so sad. Anyway, I need to go to work.
