I am fueled by 14 hours of sleep and also very irked by the fact that I've decided to cut out most of my caffeine, so I'm just going to say it: I HATE the fact that Deathly Hallows is just...floating around for anyone to read. It feels very cheap. We've all got 7/21/07 ingrained into our minds, we've been waiting 8 years, it's the LAST BOOK, and suddenly giving up four days early to read a photographed copy cheapens all that. And THEN, when I find myself horribly tempted by the online copy, I feel cheap and sickened at myself for wanting to read it ;_;. But I won't, I think, because I have all these grand, ceremonial images in my head of suffering all Friday at work, suffering for hours and hours in line at Borders with young and old dressed up in stupid hats, and finally clasping the book to my chest as I jump onto a bus destined towards home at 1 AM with all the creepy rapists on the CTA that late/earl wondering why it says "I'M GOING TO KISS YOU, VOMIT MOUTH!" on my shirt (followed by 7 hours of uninterrupted reading :D). It's the last time this is ever going to happen. It should be an event. An exhausting, frustrating event, but still something to remember instead of a tryst on the computer one afternoon.
Ahaha, rantity rant rant. (SPOIL ME AND I WILL CUT YOU, OKAY?)
Happier things:
- I didn't work on Sunday, opting instead to go to tea at The Drake with
mellorine and her family. It's good fun, tea, you get to feel judged (to the tune of live harp music!) by exotically-accented waiters in fancy suits for being penniless and for not having taken harp lessons since you were 3 years old. There are all these amazing little sandwiches and scones and things♥. Following this we played some Mario Party to waste time until THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS(!), which amounted to every single character in the game ganging up on me, sensing my inexperience in Luigi's tiny little eyes. Oh, sigh. Then, The New Pornographers! They were as amazing, and weird, and Canadian as usual and Neko Case was sadly not there but Kathryn Calder was amazing anyway (ahaha, I'm enamored with her voice *_*).
- The Decemberists are playing (for FREE) in Millennium Park tomorrow night with a full orchestra (no idea). It's going to be insane.
- Doodles.
