Wow... That's really pleasant to read.
It felt like I'm reading a poem (well, I read it in my mind as if it's a poem)
I tried searching for the definition/meaning of the title, but I only saw about "Wide Sargasso Sea" (which I have no idea...)
I'm contented with the ending, since Kyu wanted that too (aside from the fact that Kyuhyun and Jongwoon were together)
Even though I made my own interpretation of this story, I'd love to see/read what the author really wants to convey in this story...
In the end, this fic is simply amazing, refreshing, and well-written :)

Thank you :) I'm glad you thought it read like a poem, that was kind of the feeling I wanted to give. And yes, the whole thing does indeed reference Wide Sargasso Sea - I read it for book group and the book is extremely sensual with colour and description and you get lost in it, so this was my homage to that sort of style (usually I write very differently!) since I wanted the 'otherworldly' feel of fairies/psychopomps.

'Coulibri' means 'hummingbird', so it's a reference to the swiftness of life and beauty. Basically the fic is about the 2007 car crash. Jongwoon is a psychopomp (fairy guide that helps people over to the other side). The tropical island is a kind of limbo where Kyu waits while his life hangs in the balance. The fact that he can see and interact with Jongwoon means he's dying. The locked room is the truth of what's happening to him; Jongwoon gives him the choice of surviving and going back to reality or staying with him forever.

I love your writing style! The beginning really captivated me, and I love how descriptive you are.

It's a beautiful AU, and I really enjoyed how you slowly build the plot up. It's really interesting how you slowly tease us with small details, leaving us to guess where you're taking us. And when it comes to the big reveal - it's interesting how bittersweet the truth is, hidden behind the locked door. In many ways, Kyuhyun is selfish with his decision to leave the living to live happily with Jongwoon, but then again...who can blame him? The ending is absolutely gorgeous, although it hurts to know he left his friends and those who care about him. I'm not sure if it's intentional, but the idea of Kyuhyun lying in a coma reminds me of the accident years ago.
