Dead Birds

Yesterday, on the front lawn at work, a bird apparently exploded and was laying in bits and pieces on the grass.  Two crows showed up and were eating what was left of the bird scattered amongst the white feathers.  Then they carried whatever was left of the exploded bird away.  So yeah, that was all a little weird on its own.  Then this morning I was watching two squirrels in the tree outside chase each other around.  Which of course just makes me worry they are going to run out on to the very busy street and get hit by a car.  Then the two crows came back to the site of the exploded bird.  One of the squirrels came down from the tree and was chasing the crow, which I found hilarious.  And then the two crows began engaging in some kind of intricate mating dance and then flew away with what I think was another piece of the exploded bird.  Yeah, this is what I do at work.  I also saw a goldfinch, which is uncommon.  So...yay for me?  Honestly, I'm just happy to see any sign of life because then I know for sure that warm weather is imminent.  Bike riding time!  My other favorite part of the warm weather is that there is always something going on during the weekend.  Art fairs, food fairs, concerts, parties, hose warmings, etc.  And after the drab months of winter where it seems like nothing happens due to the apparent hibernation of the entire state of Michigan, this is a very welcome occurrence.  It also means I need to stay good to my word and wake up a little bit early to take a short "wog" (combination of walking and jogging, although in my case, its mostly walking) in the morning to try and up my work out routine.

In other good news, I got a call from my cousin in Louisiana last night and it looks like he and his awesome wife Rebekah are planning on visiting early next month.  We are trying to plan a big Franklin Cousin Outing to our family cabin which is something we havent done since I was about 8 and both of my grandparents drove from Arizona with their camper.  My cousin Nick, who lives in  Hollywood, is even flying in for the event!  It will be good to see my cousins, its so hard for us to all get together.  There will be much drinking and plenty of stupid antics taking place at that one room cabin.  All of us Franklin grandkids couldnt be more different though.  There's my brother and me, Mike who was in the Navy for 6 years and goes to Eastern now, my cousin Adam who although he lived in Fraser until Jr. High has turned in to a good old Louisiana boy and his brother, Nick, who is gayer than Liberace.  Its going to be a blast!
