To be fair, it's made by Kaos Studios, a company that even as a conglomerate of keen modders managed to produce more updates for Desert Combat than pretty much every other BF1942 mod group combined. It seemed a reasonable assumption that anything these guys made would be pretty solid and anything but unfinished.
And as a game, it's not bad, although it plays like a mod for BF2142. And that's got nothing to do with Kaos Studios' legacy with the series, just that the genre of large scale, multiplayer FPS games hasn't progressed much further than the benchmark laid down by the Battlefield series. Maybe because the genre is so small, and Novalogic never polishes its excellent shit enough to get serious attention from the gaming public (as in the case of Joint Operations).
The problem I have, as stated in the above entry, is that there are no Australian servers. I have been unable to play the game beyond the single player campaign. The game looks fun, and it's got some novel ideas and innovations that I think were a long time coming, but I haven't even played as the Red Star Alliance yet (the 'Commies'), or used the vehicles to any serious extent.
I had a full blown response written up for this that ammounted to a critique of the MFPS genre, but then I didn't post it because I had to go and earn some of the money they pay me.
