At first, I thought this drama was another boring slice of life drama with long dialogues and silence moments. But it turns out to be quite entertaining. It’s funny, tho not stupid funny like Kisarazu or Hana Kimi, more of Honey and Clover funny. It’s enough to just smile or give a little chuckle.
Haikei tells about the life of a 23 years old guy named Ippei who work as a sous chef in a traditional Japanese restaurant. His mother was a geisha in the area who refuse to tell Ippei who his father is. The narration was done by Ippei from a letter he wrote to his unknown father.
Tho the story was kinda flat and slow-paced, but it interesting to watch. If you’re looking for a tense drama, you should skip this one. There was seems no hard conflict in the drama, like life, just flowing along.
What make me keep watching this series was the curiosity of knowing who’s Ippei’s father was… You have to watch the series until its nearly ends and found out that his mother still locked her mouth on the father’s information.
Yokoyama Yu also stared in this drama and in my opinion; he is more suitable to play the character like Tokio better than he did in Yukan Club. His role in Haikei was more Kanjani8.
Ah and the songs and scores are somehow very very very European, French-like in my opinion. I don’t know why they put a western touch in this kinda traditional dorama… Anyway, I LOVE THE SOUNDTRACK!!! ^^
