Chapter 10
Sungmin received the text message from her brother about the condition of her Leeteuk and the change in the hospital. Tears welled up her eyes when she saw the bills from the hospital her mom was in. It was only month without paying for her expenses but the total cost of the medicines she had consumed is higher than the salary she'll get on the job Donghae suggested to her. She grabbed her wallet in her bag. There weren't enough money to pay for everything and she haven't sent any money to Kangin to help with the expenses. She was even lucky to have the half of the amount. She pursed her lips as she wiped her tears, searching for a certain envelope in her bag. Now, all he has to do is to wait for her parents to arrive in Seoul's national hospital, talk with the doctor that accompanied them and pay for everything since she can't ask Hyukjae to let her borrow money.
Leeteuk and Kangin will be in Seoul in a week so she still have seven days to have an interview with the company. It was lunch time but she wasn't in the mood to eat something even though her stomach kept on growling. A few hours passed but she misses Kyuhyun badly. Loneliness seemed to eat her and there's no way to prevent it from swallowing her alive.
Sungmin faced the laptop on the bed before clicking the incoming message located on the side of the screen. Heechul was calling through Skype and Sungmin thought that she was together with Kyuhyun.
"Sungmin-ah~" Came a voice as a video tab appeared, revealing the smiling Kyuhyun getting his makeup done. Sungmin grinned, showed herself and waved cutely at the person who was winking at her, "Kyu!" She beamed, not minding how red and swollen her eyes were. Kyuhyun called at the right time since she wasn't in the mood to go to her appointment but she have to, anyway. She positioned herself on the bed with the laptop on her lap before tying her hair into a bun which previously laid lifelessly on her back. "Have you eaten?" She asked, irritated by the random hands fixing the latter's hair. It was past noon and it looked like Kyuhyun had been busy because of the tiredness in his voice but it didn't fail to wake her soul. She saw him shake his head and it was a bit clear that he exhausted but his smile is still sincere.
"Why? It's almost one, you know," She pouted.
"I'll have a lunch with the team later. For now, I have a meeting with my Japanese manager so that Seohyun and I can finish the deal earlier. You don't have to worry because we'll be eating meat later," Kyuhyun grinned as he motioned the makeup artists to leave him so that he and Sungmin can talk privately. "Have you been drying your eyes again? Is there a problem?" He saw how her emotions change. She became stiff when he asked her about her personal issues. He wanted to be beside her at times like this. She was obviously crying and he won't let her hide it from him now that he is trying to gain trust in order for them to enter a relationship. "Mom will be sent in Seoul's national hospital. The doctors want her to stay there until she gets healed but they are looking for the payments for the things that she consumed in Daegu," Sungmin muttered, mentally stabbing herself for spilling everything to Kyuhyun. Besides, he wouldn't allow their conversation to end without her telling him what is bugging her.
"Just wait till I get back and we can resolve this together, okay? I'll be there tomorrow afternoon so we can talk about this," Kyuhyun comforted, silently sympathizing her. He saw her nod as she folded her arm and rested her head on her palm. "So, what are your activities for today?" She stated, attempting to lighten up the atmosphere and of course, change the topic.
"After lunch, I have a fan meeting followed by special appearance in a music show. That's the rest of it but I'll be busy tomorrow since it'll be my last day," He grabbed his phone before reading his appointments to the former while Sungmin grinned upon hearing that, at least, he have some time to rest. Suddenly, Heechul whacked Kyuhyun's head, ignoring the certain woman watching their childish act. The latter scratched his head, glaring at Sungmin who was giggling when the older appeared, "Sorry~"
Heechul then, pulled Kyuhyun away from the chair and faced the laptop, exposing her pearly whites as she adjusted the screen, "My favorite dongsaeng is on the line. How have you been, Min?"
"I've been fine, unnie. We saw each other yesterday so I guess Kyu and I are fine," Sungmin grinned as she spotted Kyuhyun behind the older, making stupid faces while Heechul remained oblivious of what her juniors are doing to her. "Good, but I have to break you away from your boyfriend first, okay? He needs to attend to his duties. Now, say your goodbyes," After that, she strutted across the room and headed out, gesturing Kyuhyun what he must do after their conversation.
While Kyuhyun was still dumbfounded, Sungmin was the one who decided to cut their small talk, "You heard her, Kyu. You should go before she does something bad." She smiled as she waved goodbye to the former, tears seemed to cloud her eyesight once again. Kyuhyun pouted and it was like the first time Sungmin could consider that as cute. "Let's talk later, when noona's not around," He settled in front of the camera to get a full view of the teary-eyed Sungmin before chewing on his bottom lip. She agreed and flashed a grin after blowing him a kiss, hoping that Kyuhyun would really feel how much she missed him. The latter gladly accepted it and did the same, "I love you, take care and good luck on your interview." He got very disappointed when he only got a nod in return, wondering when he'll get an 'I love you too' as an answer. Although he got sad with that thought, he managed to let out a natural smile before Sungmin ended the message.
He heaved a sigh as he fixed his hair before exiting his dressing room to prepare of heated talk with the managers.

Sungmin arrived at the building earlier than the expected time. She entered the place as she searched for the room that she and her boss will meet. After ten minutes, she reached the small room. "Good afternoon, Ms. Lee," The woman greeted and pointed at the chair beside her while Sungmin tried not to look nervous even though her chest was about to explode any minute now. She bowed and also greeted the elder. "You're the one Donghae-ssi recommended right? Then, you won't need an interview. Her husband was the one who sent the requirements and your résumé so I can see that you're his sister," The lady calmly said as she fixed her glasses, opening her drawer to look for the applicant's papers.
"You're a fresh graduate, right? We are in need of new employees and I can say that you are suitable for this job. You can start today for four hours or tomorrow for the whole eight hours which is equivalent to one shift per day. It's your decision."
Sungmin gaped at the woman. She doesn't need an interview? But she just got here and it's here first time stepping foot in this building, not to mention she haven't heard of the company's name ever. "It's Jessica, by the way and I'll be the one handling you," Her trail of thoughts got interrupted when the latter continued, snapping her fingers before giving a small chuckle. "You should go meet Ryeowook. You'll be with her for the tour but don't worry, she's your office mate and the both of you are in the same level."
Sungmin bent her head and thanked Jessica after fixing her bag to go look for the certain person.

"If you are Kyuhyun's girlfriend, why are you here?" The brunette woman asked as she and her guest walked around the fifteenth floor where her and Sungmin's cubicle is. Sungmin bit her lip, thinking of possible excuses for the particular question. The younger was right though, what would an idol's girlfriend be doing there? "Since I'm not exposed much to the media and the press, I'm trying my best to hide myself from them because I don't want to bring stress to him," She grinned and gripped on her sling bag, hoping that she would buy it.
"Really? I thought his girlfriend was a model or an actress," That somehow disappointed Sungmin. Can't an ordinary girl have a lover from the famous people? Nothing's wrong with that but citizens nowadays are used to two stars having a relationship and people wouldn't like it if their partner wasn't known. For Kyuhyun's case, there's no one that pleased him. He says that he doesn't deserve sluts and yes, there might be some actresses that he admires but no one has captured his heart, no one except Sungmin.
In order to cover up her disappointment towards the latter, she let out a warm grin and stared at the small area with three swivel chairs, three computers and three separate desks, "Yeah, but I'm not. He's actually loyal and he doesn't cheat on me so I'm fine with him." She answered confidently. Her reply made her shiver. The thought of Kyuhyun cheating on her caused her to become uneasy with the person beside her.
"Here are our workstations. There is lots of space since the third table is available. So, we'll be partners in doing assignments from Jessica-ssi," Ryeowook showed the area, interrupting her new friend from her trance flashing a warm grin once she blinked and apologized for not listening. "It's okay, I get that a lot," Sungmin laughed as she suggested to have some lunch since the growling sounds from her tummy was getting harder to ignore and besides, she doesn't have much to do today. "You too? I'm famished. There's a fast-food chain near here and we can eat there. I heard that their burgers are the best and maybe, we can drop by the café because in craving for some sweets today," They laughed as they headed out, luckily saw Jessica to ask permission for going out.

They reached the placed and took their orders. Sungmin ordered a barbecued burger, fries and cola while Ryeowook bought pasta and a mango juice. Once they have their separate trays, they went to search for an unoccupied table. Ryeowook spotted a table for two but the people beside it was the group of girls she hated. "Wookie, there's a table come on," Sungmin nudged her as she pointed to the available table. Ryeowook gulped, "Min, can you see that tall woman over there? The one with the long black hair? We must avoid her as much as possible."
Sungmin blinked and was about to ask why but the group caught sight of them. "Well, well, well, if it isn't small fry and our oppa's girlfriend," The lady said as she blew a bubble and popped soon after. She smirked, observing Sungmin like she was some kind of criminal. She harshly tugged her ponytail while Ryeowook was glaring at her, "Stop it, Sooyoung. We don't want to cause any trouble." Sungmin grew silent as her grip on the tray tightened. She wasn't afraid. She wasn't nervous. She's scared that Sooyoung might make a scene that will surely include her and Kyuhyun's image.
"Oh, we won't. I'll be asking some questions from the over whore here," Sooyoung lifted Sungmin's face by the chin tightly, a smirk curving her thin lips. "How the hell did you seduce our Kyuhyun oppa?" Well, that was insulting. Who was she to talk to her like that? If only they weren't in a public area, she can easily dislocate to bones of hers. What's the use of being a black belter in martial arts? "For your information, he was the one who came to me. Excuse me," Sungmin freed herself from the taller, sending a death glare to the former while Sooyoung shook her head and held her wrist, stopping from proceeding to the table. A palm came flying towards the latter.
Good thing, her grip on the tray was strong enough to hold the stuff on it. Sungmin faked a smile and warned, "You should be thankful. I'm still being patient." Sooyoung's girls laugh and acted to be afraid while the other placed her tray on the table and twisted Sooyoung's lanky arm, smirking upon hearing her whimper. "What? Leave or all of you will get to have this?" She continued to tease the group as she tightened her hold on her arm, leaving some marks on her flawless skin. Since the other girls weren't answering, Sooyoung was the one who did, "We'll leave, just let go." Sungmin moved away and watched the former aid her bruised arm. "We have business to finish, Lee," She bravely spoke, eyed Ryeowook and left together with her leeches. "I'll be waiting, Choi," Sungmin uttered.
Then, a tall, buff man went to their table, "Good afternoon, Ms. Lee. Can we talk for a minute? By the way, I'm Siwon, Choi Siwon."
