So after spending most of yesterday sitting in the Assembly Chambers at the statehouse, our bill finally came up for a vote, and PASSED!
Thanks God.
Now it goes on to the govenor to get signed, and he's already said that he will. The AP wrote our article and it was in papers all over the country. The New York Times didn't run a piece on it, since locally it was overshadowed by a smoking ban that was also passed.
One cool thing was that the AP dug out some file photos to go with the story. One of them was from a few weeks ago when Sr. Helen Prejean was lobbying for us. They used one that I hadn't seen before, and it just so turns out that I'm in it! I'm on CNN.com!
