A/N: Happy Birthday, Jinki! You and your sangtae and endless smiles and amazing voice have helped me make it through this year.
All around them the trees were heavy with snow, the branches snapping upwards as they became too full and their burden slipped off, making little piles in an awkward circle on the ground at the bottom of each tree. They hadn't meant to stay out so long, they hadn't meant to get lost, they hadn't meant to be wandering through what Jinki thought must qualify as a blizzard.
But minutes outside had turned into more minutes and time always went so quickly when they managed to snag a little precious time alone. Their walk had led them far from the resort, through the then only lightly white forest. Then the resort where they were filming their newest MV had still been clearly visible.
Now it was nowhere to be seen, and their tracks were obscured almost as soon as they'd made them. The jackets they'd put on when they'd left weren't warm enough for this kind of exposure. Questions nagged at Jinki, like would Minho get a cold and he'd have to nurse him to health when they, if they, ever made it back? Thoughts of warm porridge remedies fluttered through Jinki's mind as his boyfriend reached over with an amused smile to brush some snow from his hair.
"I'm sorry for suggesting we head outside, Jinki-ah," he apologised, a sheepish look crossing his handsome features. It warmed Jinki's heart, even if his body was still freezing.
"It's not your fault! You didn't make the snow fall, and we both were so happy with some time to ourselves that we're both culpable in not noticing when we couldn't tell our way back any more." Reaching out, Jinki grasped Minho's hand in his, figuring that if they could barely see each other then no one else would see them. Jinki's hand was warmer than Minho's, from being tucked up inside the arm of his coat's sleeve, and the warmth seeped into Minho's cold fingers.
"Aish!" Minho cried out when they almost walked directly into the wall of a building a few minutes later. They skirted the edges of it until they found the door, which was, of course, locked. It was a small "rustic" cabin, one of the ones available for rental by the resort.
When Jinki let go of Minho's hand and began scooping the snow away from the ground in front of the door, the younger blinked in confusion. "Um, Jinki-ah, what...?"
"Key!" Jinki replied, holding up a key he'd pulled from under the mat, using the English word in what he considered a brilliantly timed pun. Minho groaned, hanging his head as his leader unlocked the door. They both shook as much of the snow off of themselves as they could and went inside, stamping their feet and sighing in relief at being out of the storm.
After a few minutes of blindly groping along the wall, Minho found a light-switch, bathing the room in a warm, welcome glow from a single lamp in the center of the small room's ceiling. All that the room contained was a wood-fueled stove, a pile of wood next to it, a table with two chairs and a bed. Looking around the room and taking its contents in, Minho turned to his hyung with a look of mischief to find that Jinki's face mirrored his.
"I'm never apologising for getting us lost in the snow again," Minho stated as he knelt and began to work on starting the fire. Jinki plopped himself in one of the chairs, not wanting to take off his wet coat until the room was warmer and not wanting to get the bed damp. All of Minho's infamous camping trips paid off in the speed with which he had the stove stoked up and burning brightly. Standing up, he took off his jacket and draped it over the back of the chair Jinki wasn't sitting in, watching as Jinki followed suit and then ran the three steps to burrow into Minho's arms.
"This is like something out of one of those dramas Kibum makes us watch," he laughed, feeling Minho's echoing laugh against the top of his head. They kicked off their shoes and let go of each other just long enough to move to the bed, pulling back the blanket to pile under it and snuggle close. "I can't believe we get time alone like this, it's more than I hoped on this trip," Jinki admitted, pressing a soft kiss against Minho's cheek.
The smile on Minho's lips was sweet, free of any camera-charisma and full of how happy he was to be wrapped in his lover's arms for the first time in weeks. They were able to snag a few minutes here and there for hurried kisses and quick hand-jobs, but they seldom were able to have time alone to luxuriate in the warmth and happiness that only came from lying together without any hurry, without schedules pressing in or worrying about being caught. "It's wonderful. I get you all to myself, with no one else claiming your time."
Jinki nodded, starting to reply when Minho kissed him, soft, gentle, slow little kisses meant to prove nothing, suggest nothing, except that the tall boy-man was incredibly happy and stupidly in love. A soft noise, between a whimper and a sigh, escaped Jinki's plump lips as he nuzzled closer. His fingers moved in slow circles against Minho's lower back through the thick sweater he wore.
"Hyung?" Minho's voice was almost sheepish as he pulled back far enough to be able to look directly in his boyfriend's eyes.
"Yes?" Jinki's eyes widened questioningly.
Minho flushed adorably, chewing on his lip for a minute before speaking, his deep voice sending little shivers down Jinki's spine. "I love you. I've been wanting to tell you for a while, but... we haven't really had enough time for me to... to say it properly."
"I love you, too." Jinki's smile lit up the room brighter than the lamp ever could, his eyes crinkling with delight. "I'm so happy we got marooned on this desert isle!"
The rapper's mouth opened to reply, but he could only laugh at the impossibly dear sangtae that had managed to pervade even their declarations. Instead he kissed Jinki, melting as the kiss was returned and they both clung to each other.
