Day Two of the transit strike. I'm not going to go into the politics of it, because I'm either going to piss people off or be preaching to the choir, depending on which side of it you're on, and ... yeah. Don't need to go there. I'm tired of hearing about it, frankly, and I've done all the ranting I care to do already, so.

It's actually not affecting us that much, aside from the generalized cabin fever and irritability that's starting to set in as a result of not being able to leave our neighborhood. Amy is working from home for the duration of the strike, so there's just a wee bit too much togetherness going on right now. We're coping well enough so far, now that we have a few ground rules (no tori amos, no tom petty, whoever makes the most noise must go to the other room upon request, and no eating chips or other crunchy food unless both of us want some) and a compatable work schedule in place. Still, I'll be quite glad when it's over and I have the place to myself during the day again.

In good news, totally unrelated to anything else: my new haircut utterly rocks. I finally have a cut that can deal with the fact that my hair swings wildly back and forth between stick-straight and almost-curly, depending on its mood and the position of the stars and various other factors that I've never fully understood. Ironically, the person who was able to achieve this miracle isn't an NYC stylist; she's from a salon in Minneapolis. (Thanks, Heather.) They tour major cities every few months, though, so all is quite well in my world, at least when it comes to my hair.

Also good, also unrelated to anything else: we have sheets made from bamboo. They are lovely, much nicer than our usual high thread count cotton. Plus, fabric made from (readily renewable) wood! *glee*

squee!, random, nyc
