Because people ask, and it would be useful to have a list somewhere handy:
FIBER STUFF:
Yarn is very relevant to my interests, although I am a bit of a fiber snob and thus somewhat picky. I am madly in love with Malabrigo Rios and Malabrigo Silky Merino and am collecting skeins of both with the intent to make sweaters. I also really like Addi turbo lace needles and can never really have enough of those, especially in sizes 5 through 9 and long enough to knit giant shawls or sweaters. I can definitely be tempted by Handmaiden, Pigeonroof Studios, Madelinetosh, Malabrigio, JulieSpins, and Sundara. Merino and merino/silk are my very favorite fibers; I intensely dislike acrylic and cotton makes my hands hurt.
I also have a
Ravelry pattern wishlist.
BOOKS:
I read voraciously. Fantasy, science fiction, and mystery are my genres of choice, but I also like books on GLBT issues, religion, linguistics, feminism, race and class issues, reproductive rights and the politics of pregnancy and childbirth, midwifery, natural childbirth and attachment parenting, breastfeeding, and poetry. I also collect antique reference books, the older the better, and am trying to build up a collection of the old "girl detective" books, particularly the Trixie Belden series. Not at all fussy about condition as long as all the pages are there and it's readable.
BPAL:
There are very few things I'm looking for right now, as I have a ton of perfume and don't wear it as often as I once did, thanks to ever-worsening allergies. *shakes fist* At the moment, I'm looking for bottles (full or partial) of Jerusalem Cherry Infused Honey (OMG NEED A BOTTLE), Tissue, and Khrysee; the honey hair gloss in any quantity, and you can try me on newer releases as long as they don't contain jasmine, ginger, dirt, leaves, or incense.
OTHER GIRLY STUFF:
Baths are one of my primary forms of pain management, so bath stuffs are always good. I'm partial to Fantasy Bath and Lush, and like bath bombs, melts, and bubble bars.
JEWELRY SUPPLIES:
I am interested in vintage beads and broken costume jewelry, very interesting beads, and lampwork glass.
ART:
Do you make stuff? Let's talk. I love bartering with other artists. I collect art with ravens and crows, I love hand-thrown pottery, mixed-media art fascinates me, and I like jewelry that I didn't make.
LOCAL HELP:
If you have more time than money and live within driving distance of me, I'm happy to discuss bartering for services: I can always use massage therapy (licensed and experienced massage therapists only, please) and a babysitter, and from time to time I could use help around the studio or house, either with organizing/cleaning or minor repairs and renovations. We could also use a dogsitter for our trips to NYC 2 - 3 times a year; said dogsitting could happen either at our home in NH or in your home in NYC or anywhere along the way there if you can accommodate two reasonably quiet, mostly-well-mannered, crate-trained labradors.
Feel free to offer things not on this list -- I have wide and diverse interests!
