I remember being taught very firmly as a child that one should not eat berries unless one knew for sure what they were, because some of them were poisonous.
Not knowing much about berries, I can't recall ever finding ones growing wild that I recognised, hence I haven't eaten them.
Ah, I see. My experience is that being told to be careful also comes with 'you can eat this and this'. Certainly, blackberries are easily recognisable, and several others.
Clearly I am merely better at botany than I realised.
I stand corrected. How have you managed to not eat wild berries? Is it excessive caution?
Some of them (even ones I'd eaten) I had to look up.
I love Foie Gras, and manage not to feel even slightly guilty. I am clearly overly hardened.

My parents weren't really country types, so the part about 'you can eat this and this' didn't happen!
