The Camarilla is not the organization it used to be. It's forgotten about the general member, doesn't care about the general member, and won't lift a finger to help the general member. People with good ideas get squashed under the thumbs of people who have power in the organization.
Plots and storytellers almost always end up playing to the lowest common denominator of player, resulting in uninteresting storylines. Go to a convention, and all you do is sit back and watch the plot happen, and you have basically NO say in how it goes. The only way to honestly have fun is either be one of the ten most important people at the event, or come up with your OWN RP event.
Too many assholes play in the Camarilla to 'win', and think the only way they can accomplish that is by killing as many other PC's as possible. The Camarilla as a whole, for some bloody reason, doesn't seem to mind this. The storyteller hierarchy seems to encourage it, which means the mechanics are in place to allow some idiot who wants another notch in his character sheet to visit another city and wipe the entire place clean. People make combat whores because they don't want or care to actually roleplay, and then they get confused and affronted when people tell them 'We don't want you visiting our game again.'
It's a lot like an MMO. Find a guild that you like, RP with them, occasionally bring someone new in if they seem all right, and avoid anyone else if you can at all help it. Random people walking up and talking to you get the initial reaction of '... are you another RPer, or just a combat whore looking for its next victim?' Sure, you'll probably end up alienating a decent roleplayer here and there, but in the long run, it's probably safer.
Oh, and your character is NOT a unique snowflake. Stop pretending to be some holier-than-thou savior, or one of another hundred cliches that you can only seem to play if you overdo it SO MUCH IT HURTS.
