Petticon

So after reading a couple of entries here and there about a lolita convention, I wanted to explore the positives and negatives.

Personally I don't think it'd work. No I didn't just immedietely think that, I thought it through and as much as I want it to work, I think the success rate would be like 30% (I didn't do any official calculations, just a general percentage), just to fill a few days...it'd could easily fill a one day agenda, 2 days would work....3 days no, I think by then the bitchiness would kill everyone.

Explore with me the issues and the fun stuff that could work...or destroy us all...

Location

England:

Because I'm in the UK, naturally and personally I would consider UK destinations first, and mainly because I am more aware of them.
I think England would be a good place to have the con because it is very accessible via many transport.
The cons of England? the people and society. I'm not saying we're the only country to have this issue but we have so many chavs/skallies who just love giving so much shit for the purpose of giving shit.
As much as I'd WANT it to be in Manchester, I don't think it'd be a good place to appeal to those from outside of the UK (i.e Europe) though there are cheap flights with Ryanair and Jet2.
London would HAVE to be the place, accessible by planes, cars (if by ferry) and eurotunnel/trains. Course there are also more stores, and people who have never visited London will come probably because they've NEVER been London or have missed it from their previous visits.
Course more than likely, and hopefully, there will be a first Brand shop there (still wanna open a brand shop here in Manc....god I'm all for manchester right now)

USA:

a large country, many places to choose from, a lot of access point. But I feel everything seems to happen in America, or overseas..?
Course location would be better picked by someone who knows America...

Both:

If the con were to be a success, what's stopping it happening in both countries? But on what dates...hmmmm

Date

Loliday! But which one?

The earlier date happens to cross upon exam season I think and the second date close to Christmas where people will be wanting to save for those expensive gifts (or sales)
Other than that, I say date is pretty much a flexible thing....
If I went with the dual idea of both countries, the one could take the earlier date and one the latter

Name

Lolicon hur hur hur hur. LOL...no ...well it could be but there will be FAR too many misconceptions and it's not as if we don't have enough of those already!

Now I think caalling it a 'con' would be kinda crappy, i kind of wanna call it a festival but probably wouldn't work that well because of festivals in the UK

I can only think of cliché names to do with frills and lace....

Petticon?
...I like petticon hahaha

Things to do

Tea Party
This of course would be official tea parties organized by companies (Angelic pretty and BTSSB)

Catwalk (I keep thinking on the lines of the ones that happen in Paris....oh my gawd)

Sellers alley:
this is involve people wanting to sell secondhand artwork, seamstresses, jewelry makers, artworkers.

Dunkelsuess Market: photo by thepinkfairies  located here

Classes:(or whatever you call them) on about making certain lolita type wear, headresses, jewelry, blouses...
Showings: course in honor of the first con, it would be Kamikaze girls... I think have to find a range of 'lolita' type shows/documentaries
Photoshoots: probably rooms set up for people to do shoots
Games: Bingo is a fun one, pictionary? I dunno someone give me good rori games
Raffle: win something from the number on your ticket, a LP of mixed goodies from different Brands
Swap shop: swish away my children
....purikura? lol

Funding/money issues etc.

Of course deciding the location of where to hold the con would be a good point and of course that would dictate whether or not there'd be any accomodation.
Capacity size would also count towards how much tickets would be
Sponsorship could help with money, like Claire's accessories, tell me a lolita who haven't got jewelry from there
Brands themselves? Magazines like Alice Deco, Kera, Gothic Lolita Bible (Japanese version? Don't know about the Western version), Gothic Lolita Ensemble....
Food sponsorship? haha I know lolita diets and OMG stains.. but how about cupcake sponsorship? Don't know any good 'brand' of cupcakes but they're sell like hot cakes...irooooonyyyyy

I don't know I just wanted to talk away...but any ideas?
