So Hocus Pocus is on, and I say "What the heck, I've only seen it 9,999 times in my childhood, why not make it an even 10,000?" Natrually, I know every line of it, but suddenly, I'm proven wrong! When Winifred goes onstage to sing, she intros with "Hello Salem! My name's Winifred, what's yours?"
Guess I just never noticed the Gypsy reference. Learn something new every day, huh?
So I look up the movie on www.imdb.com just for kicks and the first bullet of trivia is:
"When Bette Midler takes the stage at the town Halloween Party, she says "Hello Salem, My name is Winifred, what's yours?". This is a take-off of the famous line "Hello world, my name is Rose, what's yours?" that is spoken by Mama Rose in the musical Gypsy. Bette Midler played Mama Rose in the television version of Gypsy (1993) (TV) the same year that Hocus Pocus was released."
...whoops. hahaha
