Silly to share

Best moment of trick or treating.

As we were walking away from a house a little boy (2 or 3) walked up to Squeaker and said "Trick or Treat".
His grown ups, waiting at the curb, yelled out, "No, no, go to the house"
Squeaker interupted, "That's ok" and he gave the little boy a piece of candy from his bucket.
The grown ups all laughed, aww-ed, etc and then called out "He gave you a piece of his candy, you give him one of yours"
The little boy thought for a moment and then reached into his bucket.  Slowly pulling out a piece of candy he offered it to Squeaker who replied "That's the candy I just gave you!"
Everyone burst out laughing.
Chagrined the little boy pulled out a different piece and handed it to Squeaker.  Squeaker looked at it and then offered it to an adult standing nearby saying "Here, you need some candy.  I've got plenty."
As the grown ups again encouraged the little boy to go up to the door Squeaker interupted again, "It's ok, he already got candy.  He doesn't have to go to the door."

As we walked away he asked me "Why did all the grownups laugh and awww?  The boy said trick or treat and you're supposed to give someone candy when they say that.  Don't they know that?"

A few houses later the same little boy met up with us again.  He looked at Squeaker and said "Trick or treat?"
All the grown ups started laughing again.
This time I chimed in.  "Nice try kiddo, but don't press your luck."
As we walked away this time Squeaker piped up with "I already gave you some.  You don't go to the same folks twice.  It's not polite."
Much merriment.

I'm so proud of my boy for sharing.
