Kyrie's birthday gumbo

I'm quite certain that no one reading this post will be able to attend my birthday party this Sunday other than RR or Drukara, but you'll get to read about it anyway. This is my 42nd birthday and, although my body feels much older, I'm pretty excited about it if for no other reason than because my parents were certain that I'd self-destruct no later than age 22. What optimists!

So here I am, still alive and I thought I'd throw myself a Cajun birthday party because it's really hard to get good Cajun food in Santa Fe unless you make it yourself. We'll be having chicken and crab file gumbo, steamed rice, baguettes, salad, and homemade lemonade. I ordered the cake today. It will be a marble cake with butter cream frosting and will be decorated with blue and purple flowers, vines and butterflies!

I'll also be celebrating my birthday by buying some clothes from Pyramid Collection, letting RR take me out for Japanese food and getting my first and only tattoo. It will look like this:

This tattoo is extremely symbolic for me. The design will be shades of blue. Each of the lobes will represent one of my children and will have their name and date of birth in runes with the moon representing me. I will get the tattoo over my heart. I'm not really worried about the pain. I am in chronic pain anyway and have a high pain tolerance.

This Saturday, Will, Alex, his parents and I will be getting our pictures done. It looks like we will be getting 4 sittings: Alex; Will, Alex and myself; Alex and his grandparents; and all five of us. I'll post pictures of my birthday party, Alex, and Will, Alex and myself.
