There are many things to be said about 2013, one of which, I suppose, precedes all in terms of "significant life events".
Before I get too far ahead of myself, the key thing to remember is that this year was all about the "rocky road to adulthood". I don't necessarily mean that in a bad way. By "rocky road" I mean (aside from it being one of my favorite ice cream flavors) that much of the things which happened to me this year had to do with having to let go of and accept some pretty heavy stuff. Like, the death of a beloved pet, the reluctance to accept having a very complicated person in my life, the excruciatingly endless search for what I'm going to do in the next five years…
Thankfully, all of that heavy stuff had some pretty great memories to balance it out as well, such as getting to go explore the world with my best friends, having a new pet to grow to love, rediscovering my passion for writing through Drabble Daily, and taking that big leap to get married. (Trust me, I'm just as shocked as you are!)
2013, I think, was a year of "moving on", because in life, one should never dwell on things (or stages) that have already gone. People and places and moments are all here and often gone in the blink of an eye, and getting stuck at a certain point in time never helps, especially since there is not much we can do about it. What's important is to keep appreciating and living "in the moment". I'll have to keep a note on this one, especially since there are going to be a lot of changes in 2014!
So; to business! I was looking at the list of resolutions I made last year, and I'm happy to report that most of them have been fulfilled. Taking a leaf from last year's entry, I'm once again adopting a minimalist approach to my new year's resolutions:
- Spend more time with my family
- KEEP WRITING! (Which is why I always tell everyone in DrabbleDaily--- and fail to do myself…)
- Eat healthier
- Be more assertive (mostly in terms of what I want to do with my life)
And… I suppose that's it.
Happy New Year! :-)
Till next year's T.O.N.Y.!
