Once again, the sky is bright with color, and the air is alive with noise.
As 2011 comes to a (rather silent, compared to previous years) close, I've taken it upon myself to make one last attempt at a decent journal entry.
2011 was a year of waiting.
Despite the fact that my previous entry (circa 12 midnight last January 1st) was chock full of excitement and eagerness to begin the year, I am loathe to admit that I was actually quite stagnant, oftentimes cowardly and on the whole, rather like an overripe banana still waiting to be picked from the bunch and eaten.
What was I waiting for? It's rather embarrassing to say, but I'll say it anyway, because the year is ending and I darn well need to get moving if I want anything done by 2012.
To tell the truth, (and I'm not proud of it!) I kept waiting for things to change-- and still am, I guess.
I kept waiting for things in my family to change (nothing happened)
I kept waiting for my job to get better (nothing happened)
I kept waiting for my life to change (nothing happened--by much)
But the thing I wanted to change the most was myself, but unfortunately, because I kept waiting for it to just magically happen, well... nothing happened.
I even promised myself to get started writing again, but, as evidenced by my last entry, that didn't get done either.
Anyway. Waiting. That's what happened in 2011.
Looking back though, I can't say that I would have wanted to change how things went. Waiting was a good way to appreciate things I'd never even thought about before!
Like how much fun could be had in just an hour of lunch break
Or how sometimes, people you have very little expectations of turn out to save the day
And how quiet moments in a dark room, shared with a very special person, can make the world seem like a much more amazing place
Then again, waiting can only be done for so long. Once you've reached a certain point in waiting, there's really no turning back!
That said, I can think of just one Resolution for 2012:
No more waiting.
This is it Goosie; it is time to rule the world!
Happy New Year, everyone! :D Here's to ruling the world in 2012!!!!
