Bringing Home Drake
I brought Drake home today, he has been visiting mmc_ningyouai the last few weeks. He went home w/her for a new face-up and some earring mods, and I'm so happy with how he looks. My little Egyptian Water Spirit is almost finished.
Here is his before pic, taken the day I bought him while riding around in Sammy's stroller at A-Kon.
Drake is a Bobobie Ariel on a male body in blue resin. I bought him in May of this year...first saw him in March at All-Con and the dealer still had him at A-Kon...so he came home w/me that weekend. He is one of two dolls bought with the money from selling my DIM Elena. He was actually on layaway - for less than 24 hours! The dealer is a friend and she sold the Elena in her booth minus a fee.
I had been planning to purchase Drake, and between March and May had developed some of his character. I knew his dress and make-up would be of Egyptian influence. When I bought Drake, he made it very clear that he was Egyptian, he was bald, and he only wants to wear the color white. I'm still working on the wardrobe - I recently learned he hates shoes!
His face-up came out so super fantastic. I'm really happy we blushed his ears and added that touch of blushing around his nose. Such a cute nose. The little elements of his face-up make him so adorable. I'm seriously in love with his lips...and the earrings are awesome! I was so afraid to go drilling myself, thankfully, I have a really great friend who was willing to drill holes in Drake's ears.
Drake has been a project doll. I toyed w/the idea of doing his face-up myself, but I'm so happy I sent him off to have it done...he looks fantastic. He deserved to be pampered like a prince and made to look like a king.
I did do his body blushing - it was the task that kept me sane the day after mom died. mmc_ningyouai and her husband came down and kept me company all day while Drake was pulled apart, cleaned, blushed and then restrung. He needs to be restrung again, for various reasons. I have added s-hooks to his wrists and ankles - but they are too wide. He also has wing tattoos on his back - they are temp tattoos and need to be sealed. The plan is to pull him apart, seal his back, and then make new s-hooks and restring him so he is tight vs floppy. At some point, he will also get tattoos down one arm. And a slew of jewelry and accessories...and maybe some sandals - he hinted he might wear white leather sandals.
I used the drive to Richardson as an excuse to visit a local park with mmc_ningyouai.
He is a very easy going boy. Prefers to be outdoors and near water. Drake has no significant other, he prefers to be unattached. Maybe that will change - he has hinted he would like a girlfriend, but I've yet to see an MSD girl mold I like. In the next several weeks, my goal is to get him some clothing finished and go out for official photo sessions. I have an idea in my mind for some pants and a tabard. I need to get it done by Friday. The belt I commissioned by a local bead jeweler is ready and I'm meeting her Friday night to pick up the piece.
Oh, and while in Richardson, I also took the time to examine a CP Delf Type 1 body in WS. I'm making a layaway downpayment on Friday for this body w/a FeePle Vampire Moon head. I'm so excited...playing with Tsukasa only made me wish I was paying in full vs layaway. Bringing Rize home is my next task.
