Florida: Day 2

Mar 26, 2009 23:17

For beginnings here, don't expect an everyday update. This is just until I get well adjusted. lol

Day two. Today I had to be up early-ish, so I set my alarm for 7. My plan was to get up, shower, go down to the security place to get a temporary ID, then head over to the main part of the College Program areas and take care of business.

My phone got me up, but I went back to sleep. I had to be at Vista Way (the main part etc.) at 9AM, and I could not get onto a bus without a valid ID. My room mate woke me up just after 8:30, so I rushed out the door, got my temp ID, and managed to make it to a bus on time to make it to Vista Way. I had two minutes left. woo.

So then I take care of the second part of my Check-In; I will be working at the Magic Kingdom (the park most commonly referred to as DisneyWorld), and my training begins Saturday. Friday (tomorrow) I have what is known as Traditions at 8AM. As far as I know, Traditions is basically some kind of mega-improved "Welcome, these are the rules" meeting thing, which lasts roughly EIGHT HOURS. So after my Check-In is completed, I inquire as to where to go to get a new ID. My license is going to have to wait until I at least have enough money for it. When I get there, they give me a temporary 3 day ID, which is basically the same one I got earlier at the security place but for 3 days instead of one. If my regular ID cannot be found by Day Three (the 29th), I have to buy a new one.

So the Patrick (my roomate) calls me. We have to be over at the casting area before 5PM to have our background checks taken care of, and he had just finished his Check-In Step Two stuff, so we grabbed a bus together to get to casting, which is in Downtown Disney. Two other guys who live a floor below us tag along. They're pretty cool. I can only remember one of their names; Cameron. But oh well. After we got done with our Background checks stuff, which was pretty much we just got fingerprinted, we called a bus to come pick us up (since Casting is an out-of-the-way stop), then we headed back to Vista Way. There we hopped onto another bus, which took us to Wal Mart. I spent too much money while I was there; at the moment I do not have the needed $50 to get my new ID, but my mom is going to transfer me some money before the 29th, so I'll be okay. And, everything I got was something we needed here in the apartment; dish soap, milk, etc.

After that begins one of the most humiliating stories I've ever had to tell.

As I said, I bought way too much at WalMart. I was expecting at least one of the three other guys with me to help carry stuff back to the apartments, since the closest bus drop-off is 2-4 minutes fast-walk away. Well, I was wrong. I got off the bus and had to unload everything from the bus's interior compartment (yeah, I got that much), and while I was unloading the guys all went back to the apartments. So I ended up taking half an hour to get back to the apartment because I had so much stuff. It would have taken me considerably longer had a girl not stopped and helped me carry stuff, and then we found an empty, random, and blessed shopping cart on the sidewalk. We packed my stuff in there and I was able to get everything back myself. And when it took me three trips to bring everything up the three flights of stairs (no elevators), my roomate didn't even offer to help. I wanted to punch him. In the face. Hard.

Also, when I got back, I realized that the new dress-up shirt I bought which I need for Traditions tomorrow got incredibly dirty from riding in the interior of the bus. So I had to learn how to do my laundry here. It's pretty much the same as at BG (same machines), but to use the machines you have to pay $5 for a card, which comes with $3 on it, which you insert into the machine. To us the card again, you have to stick it into another slot on the card dispenser thingy, and then insert cash ($5 bill is the minimum at any time). Not complicated, and it saves me from needing quarters, but really kind of annoying.

Anyway, once I got back from laundry I decided to cook dinner. Unfortunately, all the cooking utensils in the apartment were brand-spanking new, so I had to wash them. Good thing I bought soap for the dishwasher. ^_^ Took me two loads, and I haven't got all the big plates through yet (not enough room for all the post and pans [would have been if I had not had the second load contain the dishes from dinner. Actually, wait. I did the dishes and dinner before laundry...whatever. Lol.

After I got the laundry done I sat back, relaxed, and watched some Zoids Genesis until 9PM, when TNA Wrestling came on. Even though I do not have a TV, I can still watch channels online at a certain website; ask me if you want to know more, lol.

Oh boy. Roomate's back and he's lost his key. Ttyl!
