From a news article on Yahoo:

Interesting new astronomical discovery: "hot companions" which are planet-sized objects hotter than the stars they circle.

"For now, NASA researcher Jason Rowe, who found the objects, said he calls them 'hot companions.'"

The explanation fail:

"How hot? Try 26,000 degrees Fahrenheit. That's hot enough to melt lead or iron."

For comparison:

The melting point of lead is 621.41 F.
The melting point of iron is 2795 F.

That's kinda like saying "the laser beam from the Death Star is powerful enough to blow up an aircraft carrier." Factually true, but you're kinda missing something important in the explanation there.
