Whirlwind Update

Mar 20, 2006 00:28

It's been forever since I posted! I guess it's time for a whirlwind update. Here are the highlights--those highlights that I can remember, at least--from the past month.

One weekend a few weekends ago, I went to Jason's to play "Arkham Horror", an unusual board game in which the players cooperatively play against the board to save the town of Arkham from monsters 'n demons 'n whatnot. This is pretty different from my typical weekend activities, but I had fun. But then, it's hard not to have a good time hanging out with Jason. ;-)

Another time, I played Alpha Centauri, an oldish turn-based-strategy computer game. I was just in an introverted mood, I guess. I ended up playing until like 7:30am, and as a result I missed a round of disc golf with the guys, but I think it was worth it.

This past week was spring break. Monday, I joined Julia and an ever-expanding group of people at the lawn of the Weaver St. market. It was a beautiful, windy spring day. We sat around, had great conversation, enjoyed bread and cheese and wine and beer, and generally had a fantastic time. I don't hang out with Julia much outside of class, but I regret that. She is such a great person, and every time I talk to her she brightens my day. We ended up eating at Elmo's Diner (one of my local favorites).

The past week, I've frequently immersed myself in another great Dan Simmons book, "Ilium". I'm a couple hundred pages from finishing, and I'll post a review when I do.

The past weekend, I went to Asheville, NC, and had a fantastic time--but that deserves its own post.

vacation, games, books
