Do you all remember at the end of 10th grade, when Jack, Evan, Vigil, Maria Pinto, and all those other seniors were leaving? And though we didn't know them personally (at least I didn't), their leaving still felt like losing something really essential and considerable, because they had just been such a definition of what Dreyfoos was and had meant for the past two years. Seeing those kids we looked up to and, more importantly, their work was just such a part of everything we were and our department was and school was. Their being there and their leaving meant something even more than just a passing of the torch.
And now comes the end (for now) of Liquid Fist, which had become an even greater staple of what it meant to go to Dreyfoos these past two years. Your performances, from back at that first coffeehouse on the 4th floor of Building 1, have surprised us, awed us, and entranced us, growing into an event to look forward to often with the coffeehouses of last year. Your creativity and growth came to be a universally admired source of inspiration throughout school, and your name associated with the best of what it meant to go to Dreyfoos. Those performances and those songs will forever tie together and illuminate my memories of 10th and 11th grade and while I am very very sad to see you go, I am much more glad that we had the chance to witness and share it with you.
So here's a final salute to Liquid Fist, to let you know that everything you worked for meant something to us as well, and that nothing you did went unnoticed or unfelt. We'll miss you.
